The Campanella Park Piru (CPP) also known as The Nellas is an African-American Piru street gang located on the west side of Rosewood, also referred to as Compton, California. Their neighborhood stretches from Rosecrans Ave to Compton Blvd, between Central Ave and Avalon Blvd.
They named themselves after the Roy Campanella Park, which is located in the heart of their neighborhood, around Stanford Ave and 148th St.

Mausberg (rapper), who was discovered by DJ Quik (Tree Top Piru) was a respected member of the Campanella Park Piru. However, Mausberg was shot and killed in a robbery attempt on July 4, 2000. Mausberg, was one of the most respected and feared gang member throughout the Los Angeles County, receiving homage from bloods and crips.
In 1996, members of the Campanella Park Pirus (Big Jake and 40 Oz) were featured in Dead Homiez, a popular documentary by Billy Wright. The documentary featured gang members from different regions in the Los Angeles County, mainly in South Los Angeles, Gardena, and Compton, California.
Big Jake (Jai Hassan-Jamal Robles), was a well-respected member of the Campanella Park Pirus and a close friend of Suge Knight (former CEO of Death Row Records). On Sept. 23, 1995, Big Jake was gunned down after attending Platinum City Club, a nightclub based in Atlanta with Suge Knight.
An argument between members of Death Row Records and members of Bad Boy Records, a rival record label founded by Sean Puffy Combs. Which, ended in a hail of gunfire claiming the life of Robles who died a few weeks later in a hospital located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Allies And Rivals
The Campanella Park Pirus considered themselves allies of all Piru Gangs, especially the West Side Piru. However, they have a history of feuds with blood street gangs in Los Angeles (South Central), such as the Denver Lane Bloods and the Crenshaw Mafia Gang.
On October 23, 1995, Lil’ Laniak 2 (LA Denver Lane Bloods), who was a member of the Damu Ridas (Rap Group) was allegedly murdered by the Campanella Park Pirus in front of his child. Their main rivals are the Original Swamps Compton Crips, Twilight Zone Compton Crips and the Tragniew Park Compton Crips.
Other enemies of the Campanella Park Pirus of the Compton Varrio 155, Florencia 13 and all subsets of the Hoover Criminals Gang, due to their neighborhood residing on the borderline of Compton and South Los Angeles.
