Fruit Town Piru

The Fruit Town Pirus (FTP), also known as the East Side Fruit Town Pirus (ESFTP) or Fruit Town Bompton Pirus, are primarily, but not exclusively, an African-American street gang founded during the 1970s in Compton, California. Their moniker is based on the streets in their neighborhood being named after fruits such as Plum Street, Cherry Street, Peach Street, Pear Street, and Fig Street.

The Fruit Town Pirus mainly operates on the West Side, despite originating on the East Side of Compton. Their territory stretched from Stockwell Street to Rosecrans Avenue, between Willowbrook Ave and Wilmington Ave. The Douglas Apartments, located on the corner of Rosecrans and Willowbrook Avenues is a stronghold of the Fruit Town Pirus. Their members are known to congregate at Gonzales Park, located on Cressy Street (Red End).

Rapper Compton Menace, who is best known for being associated with The Game (of Cedar Block Pirus) record label, is affiliated with the Fruit Town Pirus. Bloody Mary (of Bloods & Crips), who died in a motorcycle crash in 2006 had criminal ties to the Fruit Town Pirus.

Allies & Rivals

They are allied with the Fruit Town Brims, who originated from the Fruit Town Pirus. Other allies are the Cedar Block Piru, Campenella Park Piru, 145 Neighborhood Piru, West Side Piru, Skyline Piru, and the 151 Piru. The Fruit Town Pirus are bitter rivals of the Compton Varrio Tortilla Flats, Original Front Hood Compton Crips and the Tree Top Pirus.

The Fruit Town Pirus and the Compton Varrio Tortilla Flats, have coexisted peacefully aligned themselves with the Mexican Mafia. Other rivals are the Original Front Hood Compton Crips and the Carver Park Compton Crips as well as the Park Village Compton Crips.

The Fruit Town Pirus are known to feud with other piru gangs in Compton, such as the Tree Top Pirus and the Mob Piru Gang. The Fruit Town Pirus made headlines when one of their members was the prime suspect in the shootings that claimed the lives of three of Suge Knight close friends. All three victims were associated with the Mob Pirus, rivals of the Fruit Town Pirus.
