The West Side Piru (WSP) also known as the West Side Bompton Piru (WSBP), or Bompton West Side Piru (BWSP), are an African-American criminal street gang that originated in Compton, Ca. The West Side Piru has been around for over three decades, and The West Side Piru was established by Benson Owens, who lived on Piru Street in the 1970s. Their neighborhood is centered around Central Ave, between Rosecrans Ave and El Segundo Blvd.
Their cliques consist of 134th Street (4 Line), 135th Street, 142nd Street (Deuce Line), Piru Street, and various other streets. They also have a second set in Carson, California. However, the Carson West Side Piru, are mostly made up of Polynesian/Samoan decent. The Carson West Side Piru, mainly feud with the Stevenson Village Carson Crips and the 190 Blocc East Coast Crips. The Boo Ya Tribe (rap group) are from their Carson set.
The Pirus made Centennial High School in Compton, the predominant school for the Bloods in Compton, Watts, and parts of Carson. The school is attended by the Fruit Town Piru, Village Town Piru, Bounty Hunter Bloods, and many more Blood/Piru gangs. Centennial High School, also lies in the heart of the West Side Piru territory. Students, who were from rival blood gangs often fought on the school campus, or at the “Enterprise Park.”
Which, acts as the border line between the West Side Piru and the Village Town Piru. After school, the West Side Pirus would meet at “Golden Bird Chicken,” a restaurant located at the corner of Rosecrans Ave, and sits on Central Ave. This was a popular hangout spot for the West Side Piru students throughout the 1990’s. However, this Golden Bird Chicken, location has since closed.

The West Side Pirus are allied with the Carson West Side Piru, Cabbage Patch Piru, and mostly all Compton Pirus “P-Funk Ridas” such as: 135 Piru, 151 Piru, 145 Piru (NHP), Campanella Park Piru, Fruit Town Piru, Mob Piru, Lueders Park Piru, Lime Hood Piru, Holly Hood Piru, and the Tree Top Piru.
The main rivals of the West Side Pirus are the Compton Crips, in particular the Tragniew Park Compton Crips, Carver Park Compton Crips, Park Village Compton Crips, Nutty Blocc Compton Crips, and the Front Hood Compton Crips.
