The Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips (NHC), are primarily an African-American street gang located in Southeast San Diego, California. The Rollin 40s Crips originated in the 1970s, around 47th Street and Market Street, they also claim 41st, 45th, and 47th St, in the Chollas View and Mount Hope area of Southeast San Diego.
The Rollin 40s neighborhood Crips were started by a Los Angeles, gang member of the original Rollin 40s Crips, who relocated to the Southeast district of San Diego. California. Gompers Park, located on Hilltop Dr. and Carolina Ln, is a known hangout of the Rollin 40’s Neighborhood Crips. They fall under the Rollin 0’s and Neighborhood Crips (Deuce 2X) umbrella.
In The News
In November of 2011, YG 400, a popular rapper with gang affiliation to the Tree Top Pirus, a known street gang based in Compton, California. YG 400 were performing at a cafe club in Downtown San Diego, accompanied on stage by friend’s and entourage. Members of the West Coast Crips and Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips were in attendance and didn’t hesitate to make their presence known in the crowd.
The San Diego Crips, are captured on video cameras interrupting YG 400 stage performance by chanting “Rollin” during YG 400 performance. “Rollin” is a term used by the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips and the Rolllin 60’s Neighborhood Crips, along with various other gangs under the Rollin O’s Crips card. This led to a full-fledged brawl, which spilled onto the streets of San Diego, and ended when Police arrived on the scene.
On April 30th, 2011, the Rollin 40s Crips, were featured in the news, when Nasheed Al’Uqdah (rapper) known on the streets as Cutthroat, was gunned down in a gang-related shooting. Cutthroat was a well-known and respected member of the R40s Neighborhood Crips. Nasheed was murdered in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, which is home to the Lincoln Park Bloods.
Cutthroat was found on Nogal Street and 47th Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The tragic death of Cutthroat, provoked several peace rallies lead by community leaders along with musicians and local residents of Southeast San Diego. Despite several rallies, Southeast jurisdiction of San Diego remains infested with gangs. Cutthroat was 34 years old at the time of his death.

Jayo Felony (rapper), who debuted in the 1990’s, with the release of Take A Ride (album). is connected to this gang. Jayo Felony success as a platinum-selling rapper, contributed to the national recognition of the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips. C-Hecc, is another rapper from the Rollin 40s Crips, who gain local notability with “Blue Rag House Shoes.”
Allies & Rivals
The Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips have a close alliance with the West Coast Crips (San Diego) and the East Dago Mob as well as the 45 Samoa Crips. They are allies of all Rollin O’s and Neighborhood Crips, in South Los Angeles, California. The main rivals of the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips, are the Skyline Piru, Lincoln Park Bloods, 0’Farell Park Banksters, Parkside Piru, and the 5/9 (Five-Nine) Brims.
