The Village Town Piru (VTP) also known as Village Town Bompton Piru, or Ujima Village Piru. They are primarily an African-American Piru gang, located on the east side of Willowbrook, region of Los Angeles, California. However, Village Town Piru members claim east side Compton, California. The Village Town Pirus, originated in the Ujima Village Housing Project. Which, sits on 126th Street, between Wadsworth Ave and Clovis Ave. Around the Earvin “Magic Johnson” Recreation Center (Willowbrook Park). Ujima means “collective work and responsibility” in Swahili.
Their neighborhood stretches 120th Street to El Segundo Blvd, between Central Ave and Avalon Blvd. Their cliques consist of: Darkside, Hollick Boyz, 900 Block, and 1000 Block. YGD Top Dogg (rapper), who was featured on 2pac single “All Bout U” is affiliated with the Village Town Piru gang.
In November 2008, supervisors ordered the county housing authority to close Ujima Village and begin relocating residents after tests showed potentially dangerous soil and water contamination at the 16-acre complex, a former oil tank storage yard for what is now Exxon Mobil. The Ujima Village low-income housing projects, was officially closed by 2013. However, the Village Town Pirus, still dwell in their surrounding neighborhood outside the Ujima Village Project’s.
