Mack 10 (rapper)

Dedrick D’Mon Rolison, (born August 9, 1971) more commonly known as Mack 10, is an American gangster rapper from Inglewood, CA. He was discoverd by Ice Cube (rapper), and eventually signed to Priority Records. Mack 10 also founded of his own record label (Hoo-Bangin’ Records) In 1999. Mack 10 also appeared in several independent movies such as: I’m Bout It (as Master P cousin), Thicker Than Water (co-starring MC Eiht and CJ Mac), and It Ain’t Easy (co-starring Clifton Powell and Katt Williams).  Mack 10 wedded Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, lead singer of  TLC ( r&b girl group) in 2000. Mack 10 is also affiliated with the Queen Street Bloods.

Music

In 1995 Mack 10 made his debut with his self titled album (Mack 10) with three singles “Foe Life” second single “On Them Thangs” and third single “Westside Slaughterhouse” (featuring Ice Cube and WC). On September 16, 1997 he released his second album (Based On A True Story) with two singles “Backyard Boogie” and “Only In California” featuring Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. The Recipe is the third album released by Mack 10 On October 6, 1998. The Recipe released two singles “Let The Games Begin” featuring CJ Mac, and Fat Joe. The second single “Money Just A Touch Away” featuring Gerald Levert, who passed away in 2006. Other guest performances include Eazy-E, MC Eiht,  WC, Snoop Dogg and Tray Deee. Another notable album is Ghetto, Gutter & Gangsta, which featured B-Brazy (of Damu Ridas).

Mack 10 And The Relativez Feud

In 2001 Mack 10 released his fifth album (Bang Or Bang) thru Cash Money Records. Around the same time, Mack 10 and The Relativez, which consist of Big Wy and Suga Buga (former members of the  Bloods & Crips rap group). Mack 10 released a song called “Hate In Your Eyes” where he said, “yo group ain’t been heard of passed the bottoms.” The bottoms is a reference to an area of Inglewood, which is home to the Crenshaw Mafia Bloods. The Relativez also released a diss track of their own (Fuck Mack 10). However, the feud has been squashed according to The Relativez.

Relationships

Mack 10 wedded Tionne Watkins, better known by her stage name “T-Boz” from R&B trio TLC in August 2000. The two collaborated on a song called “Tight To Def” off Mack 10 fourth album (The Paper Routh). T-Boz  gave birth to their daughter, Chase Anela Rolison, in the fall of  2000. However, T-Boz filed for a divorce four years after their wedding. T-Boz also requested a restraining order against Mack 10, preventing him from coming within 100 yards of her and their daughter. T-Boz stated, “My husband informed me that he would smash my teeth down my throat. I asked my husband to give my daughter back to me, and I reached for her, and my husband pushed me to the ground twice. At that point, my husband grabbed me around my neck and choked me.” A Fulton County judge granted Mack 10 visitation right’s on certain days throughout the week.

Westside Connection

Mack 10 is best known as a member of the Westside Connection (rap supergroup) collaboration project’s. The Westside Connection consisted of WC, Ice Cube, and Mack 10. The group debuted with Bow Down (Album) with two lead singles “Bow Dow” and ”Gangstas Make the World Go Round” peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and going platinum, selling 1.7 million copies worldwide. In 2003 they released their second and final album Terrorist Threats, the lead single called “Gangsta Nation” featured the late Nate Dogg. However, the group broke up due to tension between Mack 10 and Ice Cube. “Asked by a fan if the emcees will ever reunite, Cube answered, “I never say never, but he has the kiss the ring first.” Mack 10 said, “Basically, I didn’t do anything to him and he didn’t do anything to me,” Mack said in an interview. “We had an argument and I guess it was taken the wrong way because his wife was present. If she wasn’t there, we would probably still be doing records. His brother-in-law was disrespectful in a certain way. I don’t know what kind of dude he is now, but back then he was disrespectful. It was brought to Cube about 3 or 4 times before the bullsh*t happened. If I bring something to you 3 or 4 times and you don’t do anything about it – I mean just because a kid is your kid doesn’t mean he has the right to go spitting about anybody. The argument and the brother-in-law wasn’t worth throwing away The Westside Connection over in my opinion. When I heard the ‘kiss the ring’ comment I just had to laugh because that’s comedy. That’s where I’m at with it. I don’t know what he’s tripping off of.”
