The 83 Hoover Criminals Gang (83HCG) also known as Eight Tray Hoover Criminals Gang and formerly known as 83 Hoover Crips, are an active African-American street gang located on the West Side of South Los Angeles, California. The Eight Tray Hoover Criminals Gang are considered the largest sub-set under larger Hoover Criminals Gang umbrella.
The 83 Hoover Criminals Gang originated around 83rd Street and Hoover Street, between Vermont Ave and Figueroa Ave. The Eight Tray Hoover Criminals Gang are also known as the “Rascals” and have been active for over thirty years. Despite, their enormous list of enemies they dominate their neighborhood through brutality and terror.
Allies & Rivals
The 83 Hoover Criminals Gang are allies of all gangs under the Hoover Criminal Gang brand (especially 74 Hoover Criminals Gang) along with the ShotGun Crips, Eight Tray Gangster Crips, with whom they share a common enemy the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips. Which, have resulted in several casualties and gang-related shootings.
The 83 Hoover Criminals Gang main rivals are the Rollin 90s West Coast Crips and the Gangster Crips (98/97/87/) as well as the 84 Main Street Mafia Crips and all East Coast Crips. The Eight Tray Hoover Criminals Gang also have a bitter rivalry with the 84 Mad Swan Bloods and all gangs under the Neighborhood Crips card.

I was never a gang member but lived in hoover groover territory between the years of 1961 to 1972. I lived on 81st street between vermont ave and hoover st. In 1971-72 i was about 16yrs of age. There were some hoover groovers in the neighborhood at that time led by a guy named Mad Dawg. I moved away in 1972 but heard he was later killed around 1973. Anybody have any history on that guy or that group of individuals from that era.
