A San Antonio, Texas, woman charged with assaulting her 6-year-old son by tearing his genitals and attempting to glue them back, was sentenced to prison on Thursday morning.
Jennifer Vargas, 34, was arrested by the FBI last fall after she admitted to being angry and yanking her son’s testicles, which created a 4-centimeter-long laceration. In an attempt to cover up the mistake, she poured rubbing alcohol on the wound and tried to stop the bleeding with super glue.
Vargas’ husband, an Army soldier, returned home and noticed his son was crying in his room. He found a bloody tissue in his son’s underwear and immediately took the child to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he had to undergo surgery.
Vargas pleaded guilty to her charge. She was sentenced by U.S. Judge Orlando Garcia to two years in prison and five years of supervised release.
Vargas was extremely emotional as she received her sentence.
“I would like to say that I regret my actions,” Vargas said. “I do love my children with all my heart.”
Vargas added that her children are the most important thing to her.
