Joseph Patterson is back in jail, a place he will likely become very familiar with over the next few years.
Patterson, who was dating Ruffin’s mother, was was babysitting the child at the time he was fatally injured. Patterson called 911 to report the boy was choking. Doctors at the hospital determined that the injuries were not accidental.Patterson was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault on an infant. His bail was set at $750,000.
Patterson had been free on the murder charge on $750k bond — and was under instructions to NOT contact the child’s mother or anyone else in the family. But Patterson apparently ignored the instructions —
This time he’s accused of abducting Ruffin’s mother and “attempting to induce serious bodily harm by applying pressure on her throat and neck, or by blocking her nose or mouth”, according to KSFY. He’s also charged with causing “property damage in the amount of $400 or less and one count of interference with emergency communication for interrupting another person’s use of a communication device while seeking emergency aid.”
He’s currently being held at Minnehaha County Jail on $1 million cash bond. His trial for the murder of Tyrese Ruffin begins in October.
