Big Wy (born Wytony Dillon; December 30, 1973 – June 1, 2023) was an American rapper from Inglewood, California. He first gained recognition as a member of the Bloods & Crips rap project, debuting on both Bangin’ on Wax albums under the alias Red Rag. Big Wy was also a core member of Damu Ridas, a Blood-affiliated rap group composed of fellow Blood rappers including B-Brazy, Lil Hawk, Lil Stretch, Bloody Mary, and Redrum 781.

Big Wy appeared on the soundtracks for Gang Related and Murder Was the Case, further expanding his presence in West Coast hip-hop. He recorded the tribute song “Piru Love 3000” dedicated to Bloody Mary and later released a tribute track honoring his Damu Ridas colleague Lil Hawk. Big Wy was affiliated with the Crenshaw Mafia Bloods in Inglewood.

Young Soldierz and The Relativez

While recording material for Bangin’ on Wax 2… The Saga Continues, Big Wy formed the rap group Young Soldierz with Dog (later known as Suga Buga), Lil Stretch, and G-Pops. The group recorded the street anthem “Eastside–Westside,” which gained local attention from clubs, radio, and the gang community. In 1994, Young Soldierz signed with a Los Angeles–based record label and released a self-titled album, which included the singles “If Tomorrow Comes” and “Alligator.”

In 1998, after departing from the label, Big Wy and Suga Buga formed The Relativez, which released a series of independent albums featuring appearances by B-Brazy, WC, Kokane, Mitchy Slick, and G Malone. The Relativez briefly engaged in a minor rivalry with another West Coast artist, Mack 10, a conflict that was later resolved.

Death

Big Wy died on June 1, 2023, at the age of 49. Family members and associates within the Los Angeles hip-hop community confirmed his death. No official cause of death was publicly disclosed.

Following his passing, tributes were shared by fellow artists and fans, recognizing his contributions to West Coast gangsta rap and his role as a core member of the Bloods & Crips rap movement and the Damu Ridas. He is remembered as one of the most prominent surviving voices of the 1990s Blood-affiliated rap era.
