The Original Poccet Hood Compton Crips (OPHCC), also known as the Corner Poccet Crips (CPC), are an African-American street gang based on the east side of Compton, California. The gang originated in the 1970s, alongside the Santana Blocc Compton Crips and other early Compton Crip sets.

Territory and Cliques

Their neighborhood territory stretches from Wilmington Avenue to Willowbrook Avenue, between 130th Street and Stockwell Avenue. The gang consists of several cliques, including:

Nord Street (Nord Blocc) — Known simply as Nord Blocc, this clique is centered on East Nord Street and is the original and largest clique within the gang. Nord Street has been connected with marijuana distribution activity since the 1990s, contributing to its notoriety within the surrounding neighborhood.

130th Street (1300 Blocc) — Also referred to as O Blocc or One Tre-O, this is the second-largest clique associated with the East 130th Street corridor. The name “One Tre-O” reflects traditional street terminology for the number 130.

Shauer Street (2100 Blocc) — Commonly known as 2100 Blocc, this clique is based around Shauer Street.

Lucien Street (L Blocc) — Known as L Blocc, this clique is associated with Lucien Street. The abbreviated name follows the pattern of using street initials as shorthand identifiers. Like the other cliques, L Blocc operates as a localized faction within the larger gang structure.

Allies and Rivalries

The Corner Poccet Crips have maintained alliances with several Compton-based Crip sets, including the Santana Blocc Compton Crips and the Anzac Grape Compton Crips. Other reported allies include the Grape Street Watts Crips, and the Neighborhood Compton Crips.

The Original Poccet Hood Compton Crips also reportedly maintained a close relationship for over three decades with the Original Front Hood Compton Crips. The term “Original” in both gang names symbolized that alliance. The two gangs shared common rivals, including the Carver Park Compton Crips, the Fruit Town Pirus, and the Compton Varrio Largo 36, a Latino street gang operating east of Willowbrook Avenue.

Although minor disputes between the Poccet Hood and Front Hood Crips did not initially escalate into shootings, the relationship deteriorated after a member of the Corner Poccet Crips reportedly shot a OG member from the Front Hood Crips. The incident led to a lasting rivalry between the two sets, similar to other well-documented Crip internal conflicts.

The gang also reportedly maintained alliances with the Mona Park Compton Crips and the Park Village Compton Crips, though those relationships later deteriorated.

1998 Shootout

Tensions between the Poccet Hood Compton Crips and the South Side Compton Crips escalated following the 1998 killing of Orlando Anderson, also known as “Baby Lane.” On May 29, 1998, Anderson and fellow South Side Compton Crips member Michael Reed Dorrough were reportedly involved in a shootout at a car wash in Compton with Michael Stone and his nephew Jerry “J-Dog” Stone, who were affiliated with the Poccet Hood Compton Crips.

According to reports, the confrontation resulted in a fatal exchange of gunfire. Orlando Anderson, Michael Stone, and Jerry Stone were pronounced dead from gunshot wounds at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center. This incident intensified the already fierce rivalry between the two warring gangs.

Cultural Associations and Media Recognition

Members of the Original Poccet Hood Compton Crips were featured in Streets of Compton, a 2016 three-part documentary mini-series created by rapper The Game and aired on A&E. The series explores the true history of the City of Compton, detailing how a community once overwhelmed by gangs and drugs evolved into a cultural powerhouse.

The gang gained broader public attention after NBA player DeMar DeRozan discussed his upbringing in Compton, highlighting gang violence in neighborhoods associated with the Corner Pocket Crips.

Rapper Coolio has at times been rumored to have ties to the Corner Poccet Crips. However, he was more commonly associated with the Mona Park Compton Crips, rather than the Poccet Hood Compton Crips.

    1. Poccet Hood Crips not only don’t have a hood, they have no life. They are a bunch of low class ghetto Niggers like the other Crip sets. Eventually, another Crip or Blood Nigger will kill one of them since Niggers are always killing each other like animals. No wonder most Americans hate them, including some of the more educated Blacks.
